Greyfox win
Well done to our veteran over 50s team who had a fine win in the Greyfox Trophy against an albeit depleted Hall Park Templars outfit. Summer arrived at last, and so did the Horsforth Food and Drink weekend in the park, complete with fairground rides, mouthwatering smells and a very much offputting live band who wouldn’t have got anywhere near X Factor qualifying!
Villas batted first in the sunshine and rattled up a score of 186-4 in their 30 overs which looked far too many for Hall Park. Good performances with the bat from Steve Wilson, Alan Stockdale, Tony Brown, Rick Lawrence and our new recruits and old friends (with emphasis on the ”old) Paul Medley and Paul Howker.
Hall Park never got going and wickets tumbled steadily with accurate bowling from Devon, Paul H, Tubbs Taylor, veteran swinger Lynton Marsden and Willy, Molly and Clarky at the end. Hall Park managed to just top 90 all out, which was a gritty performance from their depleted team.
Thanks to our friends at Hall Park for getting things organised, getting a team out and giving it a go, and to their catering staff for putting on a wonderful tea. Thanks also to our supporters who enjoyed a sun soaked afternoon out – music, food and fairground thrown in!
Next Greyfox fixture is against Great Horton Church and details will follow when known.
